Halloween make up - Skeleton

Hello my lovelies,

Only one more day to Halloween. Now I'm not doing anything for Halloween, but I thought I would mess around with my make up and try and do my very first make up test, if that's what you call it.

So with out further ado here's my make up look. I apologise for the miserable look I was trying to go for menacing, didn't really turn out that way.

All I used for this look was Rimmel foundation in ivory. ELF HD face powder,  Mac black eyeshadow (can't remember the actual name) and also some eyeliner by maybelline. I used a beauty blender by the lovely girls at RealTechniques aka Pixiwoo. I posted this to my Facebook and the only critical advice I got was to use white face paint. Which yes I think is probably the best thing to use.

This was originally suppose to be Day of the Dead make up but I couldn't get the eyes right so I opted for a skeleton instead. When and showed my mum afterwards and she just said oh my god what do you look like? Then, when I said I was going to wash it off, she said well that was a waste. Which yes I agree, but I had so much fun doing it.

I would love to see your Halloween make up so either post in the comments, tweet me @RoseVintagechic or email me rosiesvintagechic@gmail.com or even Instagram it @RosiesVintagechic use the hashtag #rosiesvinatgechichalloween.

Blog mishap

Hello my lovelies,

Ok so this month I was hoping to post every day. I called it blogtober. Now it was going so well until I got a new app. I wrote -or rather type don't- out the posts and published them, never thinking to check that they had published. I go on it today and not one post since the Halloween make up post has published. I have then found out that the app has deleted all the unpublished posts. So peeved right now. I can't remember what I posted and it's nearly the end of October. Suppose I better try again for blogmas.

Seriously can you believe we are nearly at the end of the month. I have just finished work for the half term holidays or fall holidays if your from America or Canada. I can tell you it was a long half term but the next one will be even longer. See I don't break up until the 22nd December which gives me two days to do shopping, so think I better do some this week just to be on the safe side. I have an idea what to get people, it's just getting the gifts before xmas.

Anywho this post was actually meant as an explanation for why I haven't posted like I said I would. Hopefully this will post haha.

Blogtober - Halloween Make up

Hello my lovelies,

This post is all about Halloween make up. I've trawled Pinterest trying to find ideas in case you know I decide to dress up - highly unlikely- also you can find some amazing tutorials on Instagram and YouTube. Some are sweet ideas, some are scary and some make you think how on earth did they do that.

This is my fave one, it actually look like Simba. To do something like this must take a lot of time, patience and talent.

Again this must take time, patience and talent. Such a sweet and I would say simple design, but just look at the detail.

This one doesn't look too hard, but I can gauruntee that if I was to try it I would mess up somewhere along the lines.

I saw this one being done on Instagram yesterday and it had me mesmerised, so simple yet effective and to a degree freaky.

Now I've never seen the Saw films, but I know Jigsaw and this is flipping brilliant. I think I would try this first if I was to try and do make up for Halloween.

I love skeleton make up and this is amazing and beautiful at the same time. Pictures start to get very detailed and freaky from here on out.

More detail for the skeleton and even moved down on the neck which is not something I've seen very much with skeleton make up. I think it works well with the hair as well. Especially grey/silver hair.

This is just plain scary for me as I don't like clowns at the best of times (Thanks Pennywise (IT)). But this is also amazing, the amount of detail and dedication this must have taken is beyond anything I could do.

Finally this one, this is my fave scary look. It reminds me of a scarier Jack Skeleton from Nightmare Before Christmas. Two simple colours or shades if you want the technical term. Yet it looks complicated to do, which in turn makes it so damn effective. If I had the talent then this or one of the day of the dead candy skulls would be what I would go for.

Blogtober - TV Shows

Hello my lovelies,

Sorry for not posting, I have done posts for the last few days, but due to downloading a new app, the posts haven't been posting just saving. Over the next day or so I will hopefully post the delayed posts. So for today is TV shows. Now a lot of these are scary, some I have chosen as they have Halloween episodes or due to their supernatural content. Firstly.

Yes this is a film as well, but the TV series bring Crane to the future. He has to adapt to living with modern technology and yet keep his old fashion values. He has to battle the forces of evil along with a Detective Mills who known as a witness, due to her seeing a supernatural being as a kid with her sister. It's due to enter its fourth series and it's really good. There is a cross over with the show Bones, which was a bit silly, but also entertaining as you see Brennan battle it with her belief that supernatural things aren't real.

Next with have Sabrina the Teenage Witch. This isn't scary, but it has witches, warlocks and Halloween episodes so a bit Halloweeny for the tweens. I loved it growing up and was bummed when it got cancelled, but I guess it shows that things get old and now we have a new show or did in the form of Wizards of Waverley Place.

Charmed, I loved this show so much. I saw all eight series and they were good. I preferred the older series 1-5, after that the feel of seemed to change, I don't know if it was due to technology advancing and HD coming in, but it didn't have that muted colour feel in the latter series.

Munster, now I haven't really watched this properly, but what I have seen of it it's funny, not scary just your typical 60s show. When I first saw it I thought Addams Family. But it's not, just to point that out. If you haven't seen it I highly recommend going and searching on YouTube for it.

True Blood, now who can say this isn't a great show. Everything about it is great, vampires, shape shifters, witches, werewolves and more. It is mainly aimed at adults due to the mature content of the show, so I don't recommend it to those under the age of 18.

Vampire Diaries, now this is kind of like a more tame version of True Blood. In the sense that a teenage girl falls for a vampire. There is also werewolves, hybrids of wolf and vamp, witches and hybrids of witches and vamps (the vampires sure get around). It's coming into its final season and has a spin off show called The Originals, which unfortunately only aired two seasons in the U.K. On Sy fi channel. If you want to watch the others series then you need to buy amazon prime.

Finally we have the amazing American Horror Story. I'm going got show you all the posters for all the seasons so far, as they are simply amazing, it shows you great advertising in its simplest form. Now I said in my first blogtober post that if my sister had pestered me to watch it then I wouldn't have. So I'm glad she did as each season has been better than the last, with the exception of season four Freak Show. Also each season is somehow linked. How this is possible I don't know as I haven't seen anything to link to other series.

So the picture above is season one Murder House. Then you have season Two Asylum, season three Coven, Season four Freak Show, Season five Hotel and the recent one Season six Roanoke.

Now if these posters aren't enough to get you watching the show, then I don't know what will, maybe the adverts. Season six had different adverts and only a few were the true adverts hinting at what the show was going to be called. Roanoke is based on the lost civilisation and has reference to Croatoan. Now I don't know what that means as I've only ever heard that word in the series Supernatural. Which is another great show and has spawned 12 series with season 12 yet to be shown.

Any shows you want to add to the list please feel free to leave a suggestion in the comments below.

Blogtober- Halloween movies

Hello lovelies,

Today is my favourite Halloween movies. Now being a horror film freak there are loads that I love. However, the ones I'm going to mention today are kid friendly, well some are, and some are the classics so sit back and enjoy.

The Nightmare Before Christmas, now if you haven't seen this then where the heck have you been? It's one of those movies where you don't know if it's a xmas or Halloween film. I'll make it simple, watch it all year round. I mean come on it's Tim Burton, the King of Halloween films.

Dark Shadows another Burton film. This film is about Dracula (Johnny Depp) is woken up in modern day (70s I think). It is hilarious and silly at the same time. Both adults and kids a like will love this film.

Yes another Burton film, Edward Scissorhands, a classic in itself. I've seen this film tons of times and it doesn't get old, it has that je ne sai quai (I hope I spelt that right).

Hocus Pocus, I love this film. I mean come on who doesn't? It's - I know I've said this quite a bit - but it's is a classic. Bette Midler how awesome is she and singing I Put a Spell on You and SJP singing Come Little Children, which isn't an actual song it's an Edgar Allen Poe poem. I have the full sung version on my iPhone. Yes nerd I know.

Adams Family, I love this film and the second one. I get called cousin it when my hair dries naturally as it frizzes, it used to annoy me but now I just find it funny as I do kinda look like him.

Now the next few films I'm not going to talk about otherwise this post is going to be loooooong

This is from The Others, where a family think there house is haunted. If you haven't seen it I won't spoil it, but there is a twist.

Here's a list of films to watch. Some of my faves are included.

What are your Halloween movie suggestions?

Hello Autumn

Hello my lovelies,

Autumn is very much upon us, and October starts today, which can only mean one thing Halloween is nearly here yay! Below is a list of all things I love about autumn.

Yes autumn colours, burnt orange, mustard yellow, deep reds and browns. I also love big jumpers, thick and woollen. There's nothing better on a cold night snuggled up on the sofa under a blanket with slippers and a big jumper on, maybe a hot drink and either reading or watching tv. Pure heaven. Speaking of Tv.

As soon as autumn arrives American Horror Story (and a bunch of other shows) start. Now if it wasn't for my sister I wouldn't be watching this. I missed the first Season (Murder House) as it didn't really appeal to me, but my sisters constant asking of if I had seen it made me curious. So season two (Asylum) I started to watch it and yes I got hooked. Although when season four (Freak Show) started I only watched a few episodes as I didn't really like it. My fave seasons were Coven and Hotel. The new season (My Roanoke Nightmare) is a bit strange as they have made it into a sort of documentary. In a way it's good as you get an insight into the characters mindset and feelings about what is going on and happening to them. If you haven't seen it, I suggest you start with season one as all the seasons link some how.

Another thing I love about autumn is the smells and tastes like pumpkin spice and the smell of pies baking. I love eating cinnamon swirl pastries. Going back to pumpkin spice, I love the Starbucks lattes, just like the eggnog drinks they do in winter, more on that next season.

Conkers, let's be honest who here hasn't collected them, either because they are shiny or with the intention to have a conkers war? I know I did, and I still love looking at them when they've fallen off the trees. I remember when I collected them on the way to and from school, I would put them in a bag and that bag would go under my bed as soon as I got home. There they would stay, going old, shrivelled and mouldy. It used to annoy my mum as she wouldn't know until they started to smell. Let's be clear on one thing, I was in middle school about year 4-7. I didn't know that things went horrible and mouldy.

Finally, Halloween. You can't tell me that you don't love Halloween - unless it's against any religion you follow and I'm ok with that - I personally haven't properly celebrated it, not like they do over in America where the house is decorated. Yes I've dressed up for school discos, no I haven't gone trick or treating. Growing up we used to get loads of trick or treaters and I loved seeing all the kids dressed up and I still do, especially those going trick or treating for the first time they are so cute and sweet. Also I love watching Halloween films such as Hocus Pocus and The Nightmare Before Christmas, yes it has a Christmas theme, but it also has a Halloween theme as well so you can't watch it at both times of the year. Hell, (no pun intended), you can watch it all year round.

So there you have it a few of my favourite autumn things, this month I will try my best to do a sort of Halloween blogmas type theme. Stay tuned and I hope you enjoy.
